The Coachella Valley Unified School District
offers Foreign Language translation and oral interpretation services to Parents with Limited English Proficiency.  The following information will provide you with some answers to Frequently Asked Questions and Instructions for obtaining LEP language assistance from the school.

 

FREQUENTLY ASKED  QUESTIONS

  1. What is translation?Translation is the rendering of written communication across the barriers created by different languages and cultures.
  2. What is interpretation?Interpretation is the rendering of oral communication across the barriers created by different languages and cultures.
  3. How can I request oral interpretation services from the School?If you would like to have oral language assistance in order to have meaningful access to information about your child’s educational program you may request that an oral language interpreter be made available by filling out the “REQUEST FOR ORAL LANGUAGE INTERPRETATION ASSISTANCE and/or REQUEST FOR TRANSLATION OF DOCUMENT(S)” form and returning it to the School Site Secretary.Upon receipt of the Form, the school will assign an oral language interpreter on the date and time requested.
  4. How can I request translation of Special Education documents from the School?If you would like to have the School translate (into your Primary Language) a document concerning the identification, evaluation and placement of your child, you may request translation by filling out the “REQUEST FOR TRANSLATION OF SPECIAL EDUCATION DOCUMENT(S)” form and returning it to the School Site Secretary.Upon receipt of the form the School will assign a Translator to have the requested documents translated into your native language.Depending on the size and length of the document(s) to be translated, the School will endeavor to complete the translation within thirty (30) business days of receipt of request.
